Pablo Fessel (Buenos Aires, 1968) estudió composición musical en la Universidad Nacional de La Plata y letras en la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Se doctoró en Teoría e Historia del Arte por la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Fue becario de CONICET y del Servicio Alemán de Intercambio Académico (DAAD) en el Seminario de Musicología de la Universidad Humboldt de Berlín. Dictó clases y conferencias en universidades y participó como expositor en congresos en América y Europa. En 2014 recibió el Premio Latinoamericano de Musicología "Samuel Claro Valdés". Es autor del libro Textura musical. Teoría, historia, estética (Universidad Nacional de Quilmes, 2026). Compiló los libros De música (Secretaría de Cultura de la Nación, 2006) y Nuevas poéticas en la música contemporánea argentina (Biblioteca Nacional, 2007); fue responsable de la edición del Inventario de manuscritos musicales del Fondo Gerardo Gandini (Biblioteca Nacional, 2015) y co-editor de Gerardo Gandini. Manuscritos de la Biblioteca Nacional (2014) y Gerardo Gandini, En el final de aquel verano interminable (Gourmet musical, 2023). Coordinó dossiers temáticos en Ramona. Revista de artes visuales (2009), MusikTexte. Zeitschrift für neue Musik (2013) y la Revista Argentina de Musicología (2019). Actualmente es Profesor titular de Historia de la música en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Buenos Aires e investigador de CONICET. Escribe sobre temas relacionados con la teoría de la música y la música contemporánea argentina.
Pablo Fessel (Buenos Aires, 1968) is Professor of Music History at the Arts Department of the University of Buenos Aires and researcher at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET). He studied composition at the National University of La Plata and literature at the University of Buenos Aires. He earned his Ph.D. in Art Theory and History from the University of Buenos Aires. He was a fellow of CONICET and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). He has conducted courses, delivered guest lectures, and presented research at universities throughout the Americas and Europe. In 2014 he was awarded the “Samuel Claro Valdés” Latin American Musicology Prize. He is the author of the book Musical Texture: Theory, History, Aesthetics (National University of Quilmes, 2026). He compiled the books On Music (National Secretariat of Culture, 2006) and New Poetics in Contemporary Argentine Music (National Library, 2007); he was responsible for editing the Inventory of Musical Manuscripts from the Gerardo Gandini Collection (National Library, 2015); and he was co-editor of Gerardo Gandini. Musical Manuscripts from the National Library (2014) and Gerardo Gandini. At the End of That Endless Summer (Gourmet musical, 2023). He coordinated thematic dossiers for the journals Ramona. Revista de artes visuales (2009), MusikTexte. Zeitschrift für neue Musik (2013), and Revista Argentina de Musicología (2019). He writes on topics related to contemporary Argentine music and music theory.
